Christine Emilie Clemmesen

Born 1979 in Copenhagen
Lives and works in London

Many of Christine Emilie Clemmesen’s ideas are based on a response to a current situation. She uses materials for their intrinsic quality, for what they offer and are, rather than how they might be used. This methodology is determined through the particularities of space made available. The work integrates a state of mind, ephemeral phenomena and imaginary spaces in physical situations to form a subtle critique of materiality. This is often done with a wry sense of humour using colloquialisms and metaphors as part of her work.
