Helene Nyborg Contemporary was initiated fall 2005 and opened January 2006 at Carl Jacobsens Vej in Valby, Copenhagen. The gallery became quickly one of the leading cutting edge galleries in Denmark representing emerging and established Nordic and international artists such as Peter Callesen (DK), Peter Rune Christiansen (DK), Judit Ström (SE), Keisuke Yamamoto (JP), Yuji Watabe (JP), Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen (DK) and Ida Kvetny (DK). In February 2010 the gallery opened in a new space in Store Kongensgade in the centre of Copenhagen. Since the gallery opened, we participated in leading art fairs in New York, Basel, Brussels, Turin, Zürich, and Copenhagen amongst other places. We showed around 40 exhibitions in the gallery space with artists of the gallery as well as names as Chuck Webster (US), Corinne von Lebusa (GER), Jacob Kirkegaard (DK), Mika Ninagawa (JP) and Shane Bradford (UK). As a gallery we placed works of our artists in important Danish and international art collections and museums, as well as we published several catalogues with the artists of the gallery. During exhibitions we did many artist talks, spoken introductions and other activities connected to current shows in the gallery. Since July 2011 Helene Nyborg Contemporary decided to close the gallery showroom, and mainly focus on independent art consultancy and curatorial work.
