Untitled, 2009, acrylic on canvas, 200x300 cm FuturoPeter Rune ChristiansenFuturo November 27th – December 23rd 2010 Vernissage and book release Friday, November 26th,5-7 pm We are very happy to announce the exhibition Futuro featuring new paintings by Peter Rune Christiansen. PRC is known for working with sound aspart of his motifs, but in the new paintings he moves towards more urban landscapes that assimilates the many connections of streets, lines and lights from metropolis. The abstract and colorful patterns in the paintings are brought to life with a refined technique where each brush stroke stands out on the white canvas. The filigree-like aesthetics make the paintings appear as abstract systems that canbe read as a micro- or macrocosm. It is easy to get absorbed in the details looking closely at the works, but as soon as a painting is observed from a distance the scale changes, and bigger spaces unfolds. The artist refers to his motifs as an investigation of "urbanity on a molecularlevel". It is as if he tries to capture the dynamics of a large city through an intuitive working method, where thousands of details are part of organic systems and form a whole new universe. The result is both calming and loaded with energy, and fathers the notion, that this is where the world arises and future sceneries are created. In occasion of the exhibition a catalogue is published, in which Professor Jesper Christiansen compares the work of PRC to music: "If the spectator is willing to look carefully at the course of the painting one realizes that as in music the pauses are crucial; they create the rhythm. The empty space between the dots - the pause - creates the shapes and action in the painting. One can ask: Is it the dot that creates a pause on the canvas, or is it the pause that creates the painting?" Peter Rune Christiansen (b. 1977) graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen in 2005. He exhibited at Transit Gallery in Stavanger, Norway, Galerie Suty in Bordeaux, France, Sophienholm nearby Copenhagen and Kunsthallen Brænderigården in Viborg, Denmark. The works of PRC are represented in the collection of the Danish Arts Foundation, Arts Foundation of the City Council of Copenhagen, Nykredit, and at the National Board of Industrial Injuries as well as in various private collections. Futuro is PRC's third solo exhibition at Helene Nyborg Contemporary. | New RitesIn Case We Don't DieWhat Already Was...Things as Faces.
