Judit Ström’s works are dreaming imagery and the nature is a regular part of her motif sphere. But human beings and symbolic figures such as the knight of chess and playing cards’ diamonds, spades, hearts and clubs constantly interrupts the idyllic nature. The withered trees and the symbolic ornamentation meddle like a flourish of dreams. Landscapes are turned upside down as if reflected in water and leads the thoughts upon the tradition of landscape motif as a reflection on emotional conditions. She composes strong colourful areas with transparent ones where the painting is so thin that underlying figures are revealed. Together with the many ornament figures it emphasizes how you don’t have control with the stories in you dreams.
